Roberto William Beseler Maxwell is a curator, clarinetist, culture manager and dj based in Essen, Germany. As a curator his main focus is to disprove the elitist element of New Music by curating accesible formats and opening it to new audiences by offering concerts in non-canonical locations and with non-conventional New Music music programming.

Originally hailing from Madrid, Roberto Beseler Maxwell (*1994) moved to Germany to study mechanical engineering at RWTH Aachen. He currently lives in Essen where he studies Musicology with an artistic mayor in Clarinet at Folkwang University of the Arts. He is a board member of the GNMR e.V. (Society for New Music Ruhr). Furthermore he acts as projectmanager and manages public relations for E-MEX Ensemble.
He currently curates and organises the stromspiesser concert series with Tim Pauli. Concerts happen at different locations in the Ruhr area, with local and international acts performing live electronic music. He also curates and organises the ya festival together with Levin E. Zimmermann, which happened for the first time on the 6th of August 2022 in Essen-Borbeck. Futhermore he acts as production assistant for Minu_Festival_for_expanded_music in Copenhagen.

As a clarinetist he likes to play new pieces, specially pieces composed by friends. Since 2021, together with other musicians, he has premiered pieces by composers Levin Eric Zimmermann, Marius Bajog & Jiaying He. Recently he participated in a residency at Godsbanen, Aarhus together with the danish ensembles Current Resonance & K!ART.

In his dj sets experimental and leftfield music play a big role, as do drones, over which percussive elements just sound amazing. In his free time he samples different strains of black tea and enjoys cooking together with friends while listening to bagpipe music. He may own one soon, but who knows.
