Roberto William Beseler Maxwell is a curator, clarinetist, projectmanager & music journalist based in Essen, Germany. As a curator his focus is to open contemporary music to new audiences by offering concerts in non-canonical locations and with non-conventional music programming.
Originally hailing from Madrid, Roberto Beseler Maxwell (*1994) moved to Germany to study mechanical engineering at RWTH Aachen. He currently lives in Essen where he studied Musicology with an artistic mayor in Clarinet at Folkwang University of the Arts. He is currently head of the board of the GNMR e.V. (Society for New Music Ruhr). As a music journalist he has written pieces for Noies, where he is member of the editorial team, and Positionen.
He currently curates and organises the stromspiesser concert series with Philipp von Neumann. Concerts happen at different locations in the Ruhr area, with local and international acts performing live electronic music. Futhermore he acts as production assistant for Minu_Festival_for_expanded_music in Copenhagen and Blaues Rauschen in the Ruhr area.
As a clarinetist he likes to play new pieces, specially pieces composed by friends. Since 2021, together with other musicians, he has premiered pieces by composers Levin Eric Zimmermann, Marius Bajog & Jiaying He. Recently he participated in a residency at Godsbanen, Aarhus together with the danish ensembles Current Resonance & K!ART.
